How easy is it for people to find out more about you on Facebook?

I love Facebook. I love it personally, I love it for business… It’s my favourite way to connect with friends, family, clients and peers.  I have a Facebook Page and a private Facebook Group, and I am personally in a lot of groups to help me build my business and connect with like minded people.

Are you in a lot of Facebook groups? Even if they are “pitch free” (which many are), groups can still be an amazing way to connect with potential clients. Find groups where your ideal clients hang out, and join in the conversation. Offer advice, tips and comments on relevant posts. This is a great way to build real relationships with people and connect in a way that isn’t “salesy”.

The key to making that personal connection turn into a business connection is to make sure to connect your Facebook business page to your personal Facebook profile. That means when someone visit s your personal profile (your regular Facebook account) it is easy for them to see who you are and what you do.  When someone hovers over your name, a little contact card comes up that includes some of the info from your About section. You want to make sure to link this to your business Facebook page so people can easily click through and learn more about your business.

If someone clicks on your name, what do they see in the About section of your profile? You need to connect your business to your About section to lead people back to your business page.

From your personal Facebook profile, go to the About section. From there you want to edit your Work and Education section, and make sure you are linking to your business’s page, not just typing in the name. This creates a clickable link that people can follow through to your page.

You should also include a job title that really reflects what you do. You may be the “Owner” of your company, but that doesn’t tell people much at a glance. Using something descriptive like “Nutritionist Specializing in Gluten Free Diets” or “Weight Loss Coach” or “Pediatric Nutritionist” tells people a little more about your business.
