How To Get Better Sleep To Support Weight Loss

And the reality is, sleep is one of the biggest unaddressed factors affecting not just our energy and mood, but also our results on the scale.

Crazy, right? And it’s not just because being so danged tired all the time reduces willpower or increases cravings… it’s actually deeper than all of that… it’s about hormones. And the truth is, if we can fix the physiological stuff that’s going on underneath that stubborn muffin top, we don’t have to worry so much about tracking food and counting points. How awesome is that?? Win-win.

So here are three ways to get the sleep you need (without meds, meditation, or going to bed at the same time as the kids):
1 - Get some natural light first thing in the morning to anchor your day, and set your circadian rhythm (24 hour wake/sleep cycle). Ideally outdoors, like a short walk. At the very least, open your curtains.
2 - Use calming essential oils like lavender to relax, unwind, and support healthy and balanced sleep hormones.
3 - Take an Epsom salts bath before bed. This will boost your levels of magnesium, which is calming to the nervous system. A few minutes is all you need; it doesn't need to be a whole scene with candles and music.
Pick one or two to start with and build from there.
